Pine Grosbeaks: December 16, 2006 sighting of 9 Pine Grosbeaks, during the WHAS Leadbetter Christmas Bird Count, in Pacific County. The location was on Lynn Point Road, (left at MP34 on Hwy 101), then 0.1 mile west on Lynn Point. The group counting birds in this area of the Leadbetter circle included George Exum, Margaret and John Green who observed the birds at around 1200 pst and then again at 1500 pst. The birds were found in snags in the marshy area south of the road, at times within 15 feet of the road. They believe this may be a first ever sighting of this species for Pacific County.
